There are many outdoor activities within the Powell River area. Recently, the
"Sunshine Coast Trail" was completed with a trail from Saltery Bay
to Lund. There are also miles of beautiful hiking trails from many different
access points. Maps of hiking routes are in the house. Powell River has many
lovely lakes, one has a trail around it that is wheelchair accessible. Some
of the lakes are part of the popular "Powell River Canoe Route".
If you don't bring your own boat, boat rentals and fishing charters are available
in the town. Salmon are often caught right in front of the house.
Powell River is also a popular area for diving. There are many dive sites,
one that is wheelchair accessible.
 You
can kayak from your own beach or drive to Lund and kayak into the entrance of
spectacular "Desolation Sound".
For golfers, there is an 18 hole championship course with views of the ocean
and forest. At dusk, deer are often seen wandering on the golf course.
In the town of Powell River you will find many services, stores and amenities.
There are major grocery stores and smaller shops. A new, modern hospital is
located in the town along with a large indoor recreational center. Local theatre
and music performances are frequent and the summer holiday weekends of "Sea
Festival" and "Blackberry Festival" are fun for people of any
age. There are art galleries and craft stores featuring local work, pottery
and native art.
You can eat in casual, unique spots and go out for fine dining with local seafood
featured at many. There is a place for everyone's taste.
